Local Foundry helps protect native
woodland through FairTrade
Tuscan
Foundry Products situated in West Sussex, has decided to start paying for their
Fair Trade tea and coffee facilities so they can donate the profits to the
Woodland Trust, UK’s leading charity dedicated to the protection of our native
woodland heritage.
Making a
cup of tea or coffee now has a new meaning for the staff at Tuscan Foundry
Products. The once free facilities not only has become a fundraising initiative
for the Woodland Trust but buying Fairtrade tea and coffee also means they can
also support workers and farmers from developing countries achieve a better
quality of life.
Paul
Trace, Managing Director of Tuscan Foundry Products enthuses:
“I really
do appreciate my cup of tea now! This is a great way to raise funds for the
Woodland Trust as well as supporting Fairtrade. I feel proud that we have
joined organisations like the House of Commons, Microsoft Head office and Orange in setting the trend in providing Fairtrade tea and coffee, but am even more
pleased that we have turned it into a fundraising initiative and would
encourage others to do the same”.
The
Woodland Trust, founded in 1972 protects over 1,100 sites covering 19,000
hectares (47,000 acres) and has created 3,200 hectares of new native woodland.
Ioan
Reed-Aspley of the
Woodland Trust says:
“We’re all
winners with this partnership. This provides even more of an incentive for
employees of Tuscan Foundry Products to use Fairtrade tea and coffee. Trees and
woodland are crucial to life on our planet. They generate oxygen, play host to
a spectacular variety of wildlife and provide us with raw materials and
shelter. They offer us tranquillity, inspire us and refresh our souls. Using Fairtrade
products will help us to continue our work protecting these precious habitats.
